Now just tell me this isn’t the cutest thing:

Of course, Rhubarb was there, too:

What could be more adorable than four teensy girls (ranging from two today to three next month) waiting oh-so-patiently for those delicious cupcakes?

I had to wrestle her new plastic shovel (a gift from Patchfire and PC) out of her hand in order for this picture to be taken, but here’s the mama and her birthday girl.

Babypie and Rhubarb are a team of Veterinary Princesses (or Princess Veterinarians), healing Rhubarb’s new stuffed otter and the kitten and puppy at Babypie’s new Critter Clinic. Dresses were discarded upon discovery of difficulty of pottying in taffeta and crinolines. They are Practical Princesses, as well.

Dress-up 2.0 today:

Introducing Rhubarb

We have a new kid around here.

No, I didn’t slip off and have another baby while you weren’t looking (though I’m super sneaky like that, so I totally could if I wanted). I’ve started providing childcare for one of Officer Daddyman’s fellow officers, who we shall call Officer Buffy the Vampire Slayer, because she is small, blonde, and could probably break you in half with a well-timed karate chop. Her daughter is a teensy, tiny little red-headed thing who is turning 3 in April.

Why yes! She does fit in perfectly here!

Two fairies are always better than one!

We love Rhubarb. She’s right between Babypie and Tank in age, which means I suddenly have three Smalls to entertain. This has upped my craftiness immensely. In the 2.5 weeks she’s been with us, we’ve made play dough, been to the park more times than we’d been in the previous month, dyed pasta to make necklaces, and played countless games of kitchen and dress up.

They played like this for an hour and a half. Quietly. Nicely. This never happens!

Noodle necklaces are serious business, y’all.

It’s an interesting dynamic, to suddenly have three kids under 5 in the house. I told Officer Daddyman I could be on board for a 4th kid if we could magically squeeze on in between Babypie and Tank…and if she had Rhubarb’s easy-going personality. I’m enjoying it a lot, though, and so are all the kids. All in all, we’re so glad to have Rhubarb in our life right now.
