Elsewhere I saw a link to Khan Academy, and I was amazed. I thought of your son who seems so advanced in math/science. Have you ever seen this site? www.khanacademy.org

Hope you are reconsidering ending your blog! :)

I don't think we're using any of the WTM-recommended curric at this point. I'm not fond of SOTW. The version I have is way too Christian world-view. Patchfire says the newest version isn't that bad, but I just can't get on board w/ it.

I went to the SE HomeSchool Convention yesterday. 6 hours of reviewing vendor booths. Sigh. I was wondering what, if any, of the WTM curriculum books you have used. SOTW? Is it from a Christian world-view? I couldn't tell from my brief review yesterday. Any of the writing/language books? I saw a few things that really peaked my interest, but not all that many!

I don't really, at this point. I was previously just making lesson plans and daily schedules in Excel.

Just curious - do you use any sort of organizational system for your HS planning/curriculum planning/daily planning? I'm a huge planner, and feel best when things are organized, but I've yet to find anything that suits me. The couple of "systems" I've seen online are religious based and I'm not interested in that. Thanks, Dawn

He taught himself, really. He was a VERY early reader, but it was mostly all him. He knew upper and lower letters by around 18 months, could read simple words by 2, could read most books aloud by 3ish, and was independent reading by 4. It's just inherent in him. I can't take any credit. We read to and with him a lot, but that's it.

Hi there, I love your blog. Did you use the OPG to teach your older son to read too? I am interested in early reading - my daughter is 2 and showing many signs of readiness, so I'm shopping around for good resources. Thanks!
