You might like the book "Better Off" by Eric Brende. He and his wife moved to an electricity-free community for a year. It's quite an interesting book.

We live in a large city (half a million) but are fortunate to live very close to hubby's work. Yeah, it would never work if we lived across town.

The second car is more necessary in a sprawling area. Due to Daddyman's hours and his commute, having a second car available is sometimes the only way to make sure everyone gets where they need to go. I couldn't imagine Officer Daddyman safely riding a scooter down the interstate to his precinct! We're hoping he ends up with a take-home police car at some point, though, because we could ditch our other car then.

Our list is fairly similar. The only thing I would add that seems to surprise a lot of people is a second car. Instead of replacing our second car when the time came (it blew an engine), we bought hubby a $1,800 50cc scooter. We have endless sunny days so the ride is nice and the scooter gets 80 mpg. Sweet.

lol. I just couldn't let the opportunity pass. :)

I've contemplated in the past whether or not I really need a laptop. Now, of course, you can argue that none of us "need" a computer, but assuming the need for a computer of some kind, do I need a laptop?

The universe, in its infinite wisdom, likes to remind me that I do. Whenever I start to think that maybe I do not, inevitably my laptop breaks for a week or two, and I spend said time wailing and gnashing teeth. Apparently I do, in fact, need a laptop.

I doubt we'll ever ditch the microwave simply because the new house has one of those built-in above the range ones. I mean, if it goes, we probably wouldn't run out to replace it, but since it's already there, chances are I shall use it.

I've gone for long stints without coffee before. I am a happier person all around when I take maximum advantage of this healthsome drink, however.
