When I was in school, milk was our only option, and I didn't drink milk. Captain Science had several HFCS-filled "fruit drink" options that were tasty like Kool-Aid, with the nutritional value of a bag of skittles.

Before I was in fourth grade and the school district changed foodservice companies, my elementary school had good lunches. I was allowed to buy my lunch once a week (my parents were health-food nuts) and it was very exciting. Grilled cheese and tomato soup! Fish sandwiches! Chocolate milk!

Too funny! My daughter HATED the school lunches in first grade. I had to pack her pasta salads, chinese chicken salad, mini whole grain sandwiches, every single day because she wouldn't touch that nasty school cheese. I was soooooo glad not to have to plan lunches anymore once we started homeschooling. Now I just say, "You're ten years old. Make your own lunch." LOL.

Completely agreeing on the wonderful changes in relationship. This is one of the best things about homeschooling. My children actually like each other and they aren't embarrassed to be seen with me in public (yet).
